Facebook declares war on Corona's misleading ads |
Facebook announced on Wednesday that it will ban ads for products that treat or prevent the spread of the coronavirus, as well as ads that increase the fear of the virus.
The disease was reported to have occurred in Wuhan, China, late last year and has killed more than 2,700 people so far. It has spread to many countries around the world, including some countries in the Middle East.
The social media giant announced the move at a time when the types of content posted on the platform, especially those that reflect extremist ideologies and fake news, are subject to increasingly strict regulatory controls.
A company spokesman said that ads containing "100% guaranteed masks to prevent transmission of the virus" are not allowed on social media.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned Americans on Tuesday, and urged them to prepare for the spread of the Coronavirus in the United States after infection in several other countries.
Facebook said last month that it would delete the contents of the virus, "including false accusations or conspiracy theories reported by major global health organizations and local health authorities," as other companies have added. Communication such as: (Tik Tok) and Pinterest.
