| Discover the simplest digital watch ever |
Watches have become complicated and complex, with a huge difference between luxury mechanical watches and software-equipped smartphones, but Solid State Watch, an art project designed by CW&T design studio (currently looking to fund Kickstarter) is less complicated. A very simple greeting of the age, especially the classic Casio F91W-1.
Although the Casio F91W-1 is a simplified timer that provides the basic functions of watches, stopwatch, alarm clocks and backlight, Solid State watches use the Casio F91W-1 electronics and are coated with a piece of hard resin. ,
The watch does not have buttons, which makes the stopwatch, siren and backlight unusable. It cannot be modified or changed based on daylight saving time and CW & T estimates that after about 10 years of use, once the battery is drained, it cannot be replaced.
The design studio CW & T hides the date function on the studio logo because the Casio F91W-1 watch cannot calculate a leap year, which means it will be inaccurate over time, but regardless of these limitations, the end is watching how very amazing. The digital movement appears to float in the transparent resin.
The absence of a button or entry point makes the hard case water and weather resistant.
Design studio CW & T made it clear that this watch is not a good watch in the traditional sense of the word. If you treat it as a purely practical watch, it wastes materials, time and energy because it is a watch that works under full load, has almost no functionality and does not allow it, replace the battery and the accuracy decreases as it passes
In short, the watch is a digital product, all digital functions have been removed, basic analog functions have been preserved, and the tool can be configured without having to install any applications, instructions, or settings, which makes it very complicated and fun to do it in a networked world to see.
The CW & T design studio is expected to ship a solid watch in May, but it's quite expensive compared to the regular F91W-1 for $ 160, while the more powerful F91W-1 watch costs around $ 12.
