OnePlus officially announces the 120Hz OLED display |
(OnePlus) announced at a special event in China today that it will introduce new technologies for mobile screens in the next OnePlus 8 smartphone (OnePlus 8).
As expected, the Chinese company has announced its support for 120Hz portable OLED displays, and the company's CEO (Betty Lao) said: The technology has completed the development stage and is ready.
According to the technical website The Verge, Laos confirmed that the company's next phone would provide a screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and stated that the 2020 screen would be the best screen for smartphones.
In cooperation with Samsung, OnePlus has developed a screen designed to improve graphics on Android to improve user comfort. The company also intends to use the MEMC chip (i.e. "traffic estimation / traffic compensation") to include other images in the video displayed on the phone to increase the frequency refresh rate at 120 Hz.
According to the company, the screen provides up to 1000 lumens of brightness for HDR (high dynamic field) content, 240 Hz touch detection rate and 10-bit color support.
OnePlus plans to launch a highly anticipated phone with a high refresh rate screen (OnePlus 8) or at least (OnePlus 8 Pro). However, the phone will not be the first to support this technology, as the Razer's Asus ROG Phone 2 and the Razer Phone 2 will not be the only phone this year, as the Samsung Galaxy S20, which is also scheduled to launch on February 11, will support a screen at a rate of 120 Hz refresh.
Since higher refresh rates affect battery consumption, users can switch between 60 Hz and 120 Hz.
