Bitdefender Cybersecurity has found a series of 17 apps in the Google Play Store that can be used to display ads randomly on users ’mobile phones, even if they are closed. These include barcode scanners, car racing games, weather apps and many background applications.
Although these apps come from different developers, they have a similar effect on users ’phones because they are designed to work hours without detection. After 48 hours, they release their main files. Several instructions to avoid malware detection tools, and they will also stop showing ads for four hours.
After this first stage, the applications download popup ads or run them using cell phone data. It consumes this energy and does not necessarily have to be opened before popup ads appear so randomly that the user will not be predicted before.
Many apps also aim to remove the phone icon after ads start serving, which makes it difficult to track sources. According to Bitdefender's report, these seventeen apps have been downloaded more than 550,000 times, and Google claims to know the app and is about to remove it from the Google Play Store.
Shocking warnings appear in user reviews for many of the apps that Google Bypassed. A user wrote: "The app displays ads in full screen mode", I send a complaint to the Google store.
Another user wrote: The app disappeared from the list and continued to drain the battery while displaying unwanted ads in other apps.
The report analyzes an application that indicates that users see multiple ads in the application or press different buttons and that the number of times the ads of the application depend on random values, and a certain number of ads may appear when running these applications,
