Facebook is testing a new way to browse photos much like Instagram.  After you click on an image on the home page to view it full screen, there will be a button to display more common images.

Popular Photos is the name of the feature and the blue button that appears at the bottom of the screen when you drag up the phrase “See More Photos” allows you to browse more photos from other users posted publicly and Facebook believes they might interest you and suggest them to browse.

With this feature, Facebook has become a full Instagram!  For those who like to browse visual content, this feature will be their last resort away from the latest news full of text and links only.

Facebook also offers browse other popular videos after watching any video five years ago, it is now testing to provide something similar but about images.

This feature will increase the time spent by the user within the application as it displays more images that are easier to browse compared to text publications as it displays the image in large size with 65 characters of the text description, if any.

The feature is now being tested on a small scale and will likely later expand the test circuit before it is officially adopted.
