AMD has announced the third-generation Ryzen Threadripper, which focuses on the 7-nm manufacturing precision, with the Zen 2 architecture, with performance improvements and a starting price of $ 1399.
AMD offers a TR 3960X processor with 24 cores with a 3.8GHz clock speed, a TR 3970X processor with 32 cores with a 3.7GHz clock speed, and a boost speed of 4.5GHz.
The TR 3960X and TR 3970X also come with AMD TRX40 chipset, 72 PCIe 4.0 lanes, 12 USB-C 3.1 support, and a second generation of ultra-fast 10 Gbps ports.
AMD is targeting new processors with the motherboard to support content developers, as the largest number of cores with the highest frequency in PCIe 4.0 does not support players significantly, and Threadripper processors have often been known to not offer the best performance in games.
AMD also asserts that the Ryzen TR 3970X will support more than 47% of the decryption of Adobe Premiere CC 2019 software, while the 3960X comes at a lower cost, with 22% faster speed than the Intel chip.
Both AMD chips are powered by 280W TDP, while the Intel i9-9980XE comes with 165W TDP.
The Ryzen RT 3960X Threadripper will be priced at $ 1399, while the TR 3970X comes with 32 cores at $ 1999.
